Maya Whitaker is the owner and instructor behind Whitaker Equine, LLC, bringing a lifelong passion for horses, a strong academic foundation, and a thoughtful approach to equine care and instruction. 

Maya began riding horses at the age of six, developing an early love for riding, barn life, and horsemanship. Her dedication deepened in middle school when she purchased her first horse, an experience that taught her responsibility, commitment, and the realities of daily horse care and training at a young age. 

She graduated from the University of Vermont (UVM) with a degree in Animal Studies and an equine-focused concentration. Combined with years of hands-on barn experience, her education informs a well-rounded philosophy that prioritizes safety, proper technique, horse welfare, and overall wellness. 

In addition to riding instruction, Maya offers BEMER® Equine Blanket Therapy, reflecting her belief that good horsemanship includes proactive care for the horse’s physical well-being. Her approach emphasizes patience, clear communication, and respect for the horse as a partner. 

Through Whitaker Equine, Maya is proud to share her knowledge with riders and horse owners of all ages and experience levels, fostering confidence, skill development, and a lifelong appreciation for horses.
